Monte Carlo Applications for Partially Polarized Inverse External-Compton Scattering (MAPPIES). II. Application to the UV/Soft X-Ray Excess in Blazar Spectra

چکیده

Abstract The spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of some blazars exhibit an ultraviolet (UV) and/or soft X-ray excess that can be modeled with different radiation mechanisms. Polarization measurements the UV/X-ray emission from may provide new and unique information about astrophysical environment blazar jets, could thus help to distinguish between scenarios. In this paper, a Monte Carlo code—Monte Applications for Partially Polarized Inverse External-Compton Scattering—for polarization-dependent Compton scattering is used simulate polarization signatures in model where UV/soft arises bulk process. Predictions expected SED AO 0235+164 UV 3C 279 are made upcoming proposed polarimetry missions.

Study of X-ray Harmonics of the Polarized Inverse Compton Scattering Experiment at UCLA

We propose an Inverse Compton Scattering (ICS) experiment, which will investigate nonlinear properties of the scattering utilizing the terawatt CO2 laser system with various polarizations in Neptune Laboratory at UCLA. When the normalized amplitude of the vector potential a0 is larger than unity the scattering occurs in the nonlinear region; therefore, higher harmonics are also produced. We pre...

Calculation of Absorbed Glandular Dose using a FORTRAN Program Based on Monte Carlo X-ray Spectra in Mammography

Introduction: Average glandular dose calculation in mammography with Mo-Rh target-filter and dose calculation for different situations is accurate and fast. Material and Methods: In this research, first of all, x-ray spectra of a Mo target bombarded by a 28 keV electron beam with and without a Rh filter were calculated using the MCNP code. Then, we used the Sobol-Wu parameters to write a FORTRA...

On Compton Scattering Scenarios for Blazar Flares

The synchrotron reflection scenario recently proposed to explain γ-ray flares observed from blazar jets is studied. Our analysis takes into account the angular distribution of the beamed radiation, the finite extent of the scattering region, and light travel-time effects. We compare energy densities and powers for synchrotron, SSC, reflected synchrotron (RSy), and external Compton (EC) scatteri...

MILOU : a Monte-Carlo for Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering

In this note, we present a new generator for Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering processes. This generator is based on formalism of Generalized Partons Distributions evolved at Next Leading Order (NLO). In the following we give a brief description of this formalism and we explain the main features of the generator for the elastic reactions, as well as for proton dissociation.
